Children's first six years of development set the foundation for their
success in school and future well-being. Children's development during
these first six years affects their learning, behaviour, and physical
and emotional health throughout adulthood.
Understanding the Early Years (UEY) is a Canada-wide research project looking at the factors that help or block child development. UEY will use the results to support communities and families in ensuring that all children have the best possible start in life.
This website focuses on one of the twelve UEY sites:
the Dixie Bloor neighbourhood of Mississauga, Ontario. Explore this
site to learn more about the Dixie Bloor communities, the UEY research
findings, and how we are taking action to support children in Dixie
Bloor.
